Gateway to the backwaters

An iconic city that awaits with hidden adventures, idyllic backwaters and picturesque forest patches is Quilon or Kollam, as it is known today. Towards the south of God's Own Country is situated this pristine landscape on the banks of the Lake Ashtamudi, the southern gateway to the backwaters of Kerala. Kollam narrates the tales of a bygone era of the Dutch, Portuguese and British rule. Being a prominent port in the legendary Spice Route, Kollam received much fame even during the time of explorers like Ibn Batuta and Marco Polo. With palm fringed waterways, historical treasures, exclusive cultural, biological and geological diversities, the district never fails to contribute the best travel experience. This ancient seaport is renowned for its coir manufacturing and cashew processing industries as well.

Venture beyond the well-known and experience the lesser known destinations that add to its enthralling aura. Discover a series of experiences from the alluring natural spectacles to historically significant edifices and ancient spiritual shrines.
